• The Centre for South Asian Studies at the University of Toronto and the University of Windsor jointly host the fifth annual Tamil Studies Conference, “Constructing Tamil Worlds: Circulation, Marginality and Plurality”, from May 13 – 15, 2010. This conference will bring together Tamil Studies scholars, artists, writers and activists from North America, Central America, Europe, South Asia, and Australasia. Definitely these exercises would do some solid good to the modernisation of the ancient language, to express emerging techy with new tamil terminologies, perhaps absorbing from / mimicking ruling linguistic terms, grow fast in its documentation of new Age ideas in Tamil and reach its ancient glory at the shortest time. They could be expected to be more genuine forums rather than ones organised for self adulation by people who had paid least tangible service in the cause of the language, except to claim acquisition of a status for Tamil by political influence rather than conviction of its merits..
