How to travel with a dog in India?

Chennai is the Medical capital of India.Veterinary Doctors of Chennai also play vital roles. How is this news?

  • Private hospitals in Chennai have hectic schedules treating mainly patients from other parts of India. One can hear all languages in an Eye Hospital in Chennai.Another famous hospital is crowed with patients and relatives looking like mini India.Even foreigners throng these hospitals.Chennai Central Railway station has helping kiosks located to guide patients to hospitals.Auto rickshaw drivers run a roaring business.Even Vellore,160 Kms from Chennai, attracts patients from North and abroad. A/c buses are plying to cater the needs of the patients. 1.A man drove down from Shillong to Chennai, covering about 4,000 km by road in four days, to save his ‘best friend’, an American Boxer, afflicted by a mysterious illness. Sanjay Sharma who runs a consultancy service in Shillong, has been living with his dog Bonxie, for the past 16 months. When Bonxie began having epileptic attacks due to an irregular heart beat, veterinarians in Meghalaya recommended he seek advanced health care. So Sharma got into his Xylo MUV with the dog and a helper and drove down — as travel by plane or train would have been stressful for Bonxie. Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) Hospital vice chancellor Dr P Thangaraju said this was not the first time they were treating a dog from a distant place. “We have treated animals from dog squads of the army and BSF too,’’ he said. http://expressbuzz.com/edition/story.aspx?Title=Man+drives+from+Shillong+to+Chennai+for+his+dog&artid=/GFxqqOVvsI=&SectionID=lifojHIWDUU=&MainSectionID=wIcBMLGbUJI=&SectionName=rSY%7C6QYp3kQ=&SEO= 2.Implant opens him to world of sound The results of Auditory Brainstem Implantation (ABI) done on a one-yearand- 11-month old boy have proved successful, opening the doors for similar surgeries on children with absent cochlea (inner ear) and nerve. Speaking about the boy here on Thursday, Prof Mohan Kameswaran, director, Madras ENT Research Foundation, who performed the ABI, said Koushik was profoundly deaf and his inner ear was absent. http://expressbuzz.com/edition/story.aspx?Title=Implant+opens+him+to+world+of+sound&artid=M3ntfUWmwMA=&SectionID=lifojHIWDUU=&MainSectionID=wIcBMLGbUJI=&SectionName=rSY%7C6QYp3kQ=&SEO=

  • Answer:

Indeed we are proud to know the news. But the medical health care is often beyond the reach of middle class people. The med insurance is not availed due to already tight budget, only the upper mid class and the rich avail the same incidentally enjoying a tax benefit. The poor are now given some 'life saving Med care' by the govt, which should be deemed to be good news. But the average medicos are very formal, without much commitment and continue to fleece the people with unwanted tests, costly meds etc. Few years ago, a friend of mine went to much publicised Sidha hospital for a chronic ailment, as the allopathic therapy was proving too costly and had some adverse effects on him too. But the Sidha Dr also was charging heavily that made the man give up all treatment and he went for yoga that gave him at least some strength to bear the pains. Every professional is out to make the best or worst use of his demand and not the least inclined to help the people at reasonable rates that they could afford. The friend said that even the Jr Doctors in the hospital he was treated and the staff complained of poor salary, pleading for substantial financial help (tips) though the Chief was fleecing patients already. So the life of the average domestic citizen in the hi tech modern age, where highly qualified people treat visitors across the globe, for a fee considered cheaper than the rich western countries, affords no joy of existence once a serious ailment strikes his /her family members.
