How to become a journalist/writer for Cosmopolitan magazine?

I want to become either a photojournalist or a magazine journalist! Help!?

• I have MANY questions about my career path. Okay, so I definitely know my goal is to become some sort of journalist. I realize that there are a lot of different types of journalism-magazine, broadcasting, newspaper, photo, etc. Personally, what do you think would be the most interesting? I would really like to write for a magazine, or go to other countries and take pictures (photojournalist) -Also, what do you recommend that I study in college? I know I need to major in journalism, but what should my minor be? I want to keep my optioins open, because I know that journalists normally have to have a wide variety of things that they can do. Tell me ANYTHING else that I might find helpful! Preferablly I'd like to hear from experienced journalists or people who have studied it!

  If you are studying to become a journalist, learn it all. Learn how to shoot and edit video as well as write a story or a script for the video, and take creative photos that tell a story. If you go to any news website, just about every major story has a photo, a video, and a story, this is called "convergence media". If you can learn it all, a media outlet can send you out alone to cover a story and save money by not sending a photographer and cameraman. Unfortunately jobs in print media will be hard to come by, as many newspapers and magazines are moving online or at least using an online component. And if you want to write for a magazine, for instance write opinion articles, you pretty much have to start out as a fact based journalist first anyway. Learn how to tell a story acurately and once you have proven yourself you can start throwing your opinion in. You might want to visit schooltube.com and search through their 'news and journalism" category. If nothing else just for fun but it will give you an idea on how other students are utilizing video.
