I need help with Journalism, I desperate, please help! Journalism experts, help me please!?

I need help choosing a beat from my local newspaper and assigning myself to a story. I'm really struggling on this assignment and it's past due and my teacher is honestly NO help at all. http://www.philly.com/ is an online newspaper source for me, can you please help me find a beat and story? The assignment says: "Choose a beat that you would like to have on your local newspaper. Assign yourself a story to write and produce with one accompanying photograph. Talk to at least two people who you don’t know, include several quotes, facts, a good lead and a strong kicker." I'm having trouble, please explain... Any help is strongly appreciated. Thank you.
