How do you become a journalist like the journalist in the movie Blood Diamond?

I want to be that kind of journalist! In the middle of the action, trying to make a change, deal with real issues that affect the world. I don't want to be a sports journalist or an entertainment journalist or anything like that.. I'd like to talk about human rights issues in China, North Korea, the war conflicts going on in Libya and Egypt, etc.. you know things like that!
