Is Readers Digest as popular as it used to be?

Is readers digest winning draw a scam?

  • OK, so this morning I got a green envelope through the post from Readers Digest, saying that I could have won £120,000 and that the money has been deposited in a Natwest bank account in London and is waiting to be paid out. What really disturbed me about this, is it said " It is now your choice whether or not you choose (my son's name) to receive the winnings". I want to know how the heck they have my details, by why my Son's details. This whole thing looks like a massive SCAM and I can't believe a publication like readers digest would run something like this. Its also worth noting that I have never taken out subscriptions to the RD in my whole life!!

  • Answer:

Read the fine print. It doesn't say you won. It says you 'could have won £120k' -- that same envelope is sent out to millions of homes across the UK and there is only 1 winner out of those millions sent out. Normally you have to subscribe to the magazine in order to be entered into the drawing to actually win

And we all think that the Nigerians are bad - Readers Digest has been getting away with this type of fraud for so many years, it is disgusting.

it`s sort of a scam , to get a chant to win the money you have to buy books from them and that puts you in the draw . but the thing is they just keep sending you books and if you don`t want them you pay to send them back . as most people don`t send them back they end up paying for them and being sent more book they don`t want .,

Several years ago, my Bank refused to give me a loan to cover the time it would take for my "winnings" to reach me, they were right, no money ever arrived. I spent it anyway though, I mean, you would wouldn't you..
