What can i do with a major in journalism?

What should I do; major is journalism?

  • I chose to major in journalism...but Im not sure exactly what I want to do. I know that I want to deal with entertainers, musicians, etc. and have been lucky enough to be friend some of them. Its like I can not even describe the feeling that I get when I think of working with the most famous musicians out there...Im in college and I still get star struck from just thinking about celebrities. ...also I am really, really shy the one time I did meet someone famous I was to afriad to take my photo with them. ...anyways, Since I am going for a BA in journalism, would I go for entertainment or news reporter??? Thanks

  • Answer:

Try to work for your school's newspaper and do some reporting there. You should also be looking into summer internships to gain professional experience that will eventually help you get a job. I will say that serious entertainment journalists DO NOT get "starstruck" or bashful, shy, flattered, etc. when they interview celebrities. If you're wanting to do journalism just so you can be buddy-buddy with musicians, you're in the wrong profession. Your job is to cover them honestly and impartially; it's not to become a groupie.
