What was advertising like in the 1960's?

Television advertising = costly in the 1950s and '60s?

  • a question I'm trying to find the answer to (but failing) "Why was television advertising so costly to produce and air in the 1950s and 1960s?"

  • Answer:

I read this article (http://www.museum.tv/eotvsection.php?entrycode=advertising ) and it didn't say anything about tv advertising costing so much. It did however say how television advertising rose to what it is today. Another point it made was how A.C. Nielson helped measure the number of viewers watching a particular network and show at any given time. This helped companies by commercial slots in between highly watched shows. Basically more bang for the buck. Then again, tv advertising became more expensive when the ads went from one minute to 30 seconds (also mentioned in it).
