Yes I did and there was a verification call, otherwise people could write in using someone else's name and if it were published, there would be the possibility of a lawsuit.

I've had letters published in a number of papers over the years and never had a verification call. I suppose that if your letter were slanderous they would want to verify it so that they don't get sued.
