Do mainstream media in your country downplay the persecution in China?

At the Alaska World Affairs Council program on April 27, Dr. Wenyi Wang, now an enemy of China, spoke to raise awareness of China's new transplant tourism market. She is a medical doctor and reporter for The Epoch Times and has courageously spoken out for human rights in China and against the killing of Falun Gong practitioners there. Both official and black market hospitals sell transplant organs for $20,000 to $180,000 each. A customer is guaranteed a match within one to four weeks. Political and other prisoners, including young practitioners who suddenly and mysteriously disappear, become live donors to this growing market for an international marketplace. http://clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2007/6/5/86462.html Why would respectable mainstream papers rather talks about animal abuse, gossips and pose sexy celebrities, than tell people about the torture of the innocents?

Answer:
Selamat Walawala! They don't play it at all. Our so-called "Free Press" has become a propaganda machine designed to keep business running smoothly. "Don't rock the boat" has become the human rights rallying cry for the American Consumer. "Boycott" is not even whispered.

IN britain we are aware of trade in illegal organs and the unscrupulous methods by which those organs are acquired but almost all of the bad publicity is against India, I have not seen even one report about the trade in illegal Organs in China. is the trade even illegal in China. I know the collection methods are wrong but if the trade is not illegal then perhaps this is why media concentrate on India.
Illegal harvesting of body parts: Yes that existed in the past, but is now outlawed. In fact, a Chinese national was recently elected chair to the World Health Organization that expressly forbids organ sales. China also does not allow harvesting of condemned prisoners organs unless the prisoner gives written consent and at no time can the organs be sold. The claims that Fulon Gong makes that members are arrested and their organs yanked out without anesthesia is hotly denied by Beijing and the political leaders in the States that bought into that story have quietly let it die. --------------- --------------- Fulon Gong: The outlawed religious order. Fact is, it is the only religion that is outlawed in China. The issue they kept bringing up was they wanted big changes in the government to a system that does not exist here. They were not outlawed because of religion; it was that the movement was becoming a big problem for China. That certainly doesn’t make it right. Nor do I know much about the claims of abuse and torture the movement claims. Fulon Gong has an axe to grind; therefore the claims must be viewed as suspect. Remember, the ex pats from Iraq made huge claims and is one of the biggest reasons we invaded. Now we know many of those claims were fabricated or blown out of proportion. There maybe a certain ring of truth to Fulon Gongs claims, but until it can be corroborated by outside sources then it must be viewed as suspect. If you had not noticed, most political leaders in the USA have either ignored them or backed away from their claims. ------------------------- ------------------------- Dictatorial totalitarian one party rule: First, China is NOT COMMUNIST, communism and capitalism are polar opposites, therefore that label is misleading and wrong. Even cold warriors like Henry Kissinger agree to that. China is communist in name only, even my students’ here in China laugh at the very mention of China being communist. The only way I can describe their system is to say it is one that is in transition from communism to democracy. As of now non party members can hold positions as high as mayor. Albeit that is rare, nevertheless only a few years ago that would have been unheard of. There is an election system in place, but it is very low key and only goes up to the province level where party members are elected by other party members to represent the people in Beijing. The elections are held at different times for each province. There is no such thing as national elections in China. All of that can be found at www.china.org.cn. Is China totalitarian? We often hear of it referred to as such. The definition, every aspect of life is under strict state control, often through coercive measures. Since individuals are free to travel, open a business, quit their job, find new employment, and pretty much do everything we Americans are accustomed too, then the definition is inaccurate. What about dictatorial rule? The definition doesn’t fit since President Hu is elected by their legislative body, he must answer to them as well. The one party rule system however is firmly in place and will be here for a long time. There are other parties but they are controlled by the Communist Party. However, looking at it in a different way, the party consists of hard liners to capitalists. The one thing I see, it’s working for China. -------------------------------- -------------------------------- Human Rights Abuses: There are human rights abuses that go on in China, as well as the USA. Ours are anywhere from Secret Prisons to overcrowded ones, to our lopsided drug laws, lack of medical attention for millions, then factor in two wars under dubious reasons, our military presence on every continent in the world, propping up governments through our never ending thirst for oil. But as a rule, we don’t abuse our own people, nor does China. Both countries are not like a North Korea or Libya where they are truly totalitarian. China has tens of thousands of blogs were people express opinions on any issue, politics to music. Unfortunately for me and the west, it’s all in Chinese, so therefore it is little noticed. On several western web sites I have found a reference to the Chinese Hukou System, stating that it makes it illegal to migrate from rural area’s to cities is misleading. The system was put in place in the late 50’s that prevented people from rural area’s access to the social welfare system in big cities. That system is now being reformed and eventually eliminated. The reason is simple, migration from the rural areas has been going on for quite sometime and these people need access. There is the Three Gorges Dam project which is close to being completed. It displaced 1.2 million people. First off, what would you expect with a population as large as China’s? This is not like the western USA where dams were built displacing few; this is a country with a long history of settlement and migration. Any improvement in China’s infrastructure is going to affect far more people then the USA. Plus, without the Three Gorges Damn, China would have to increase its use of dirty coal to produce electricity. Prior to the Damn going online, the college where I am living regularly experienced power outages, now it’s rare. Suppression of Trade Unions, funny how Wal-Marts in China are unionized whereas in the USA they’re not. China demanded Wal-Mart allow unionization based on their abysmal labor history in the USA. Suppression of Religious Freedom. This is one fact that keeps surfacing in the western press, yet it is untrue. Visiting Christian leaders have even said that everything they thought was happening in China has been proven to be outdated and wrong. Is this a case of the western press being lazy along with bad reporting where the reporter sits behind a computer finding any web site to reinforce their story? Another thing I find curious, on the CIA web site it states that China government is officially atheist, yet gives no religious label to the USA, shouldn’t the CIA web site say our government is atheist as well? If not, then what is it? Christian? The western press also makes statements about Chinese violence against women, abduction and trafficking in women and gives the impression this is state sanctioned while ignoring that China is dealing with these millennium long practices by making it illegal with stiff penalties. Then we hear of forced eviction as China develops and never mentions anything about compensation, while ignoring immanent domain in the USA. How about the Uighurs Muslims, an ethnic minority in China that the western press is saying they are being persecuted. Some are fighting for an independent state and therefore China has cracked down which has resulted in some being jailed to a few being executed. Think what would happen if, lets say, the Branch Dividians were fighting for an independent state? I’m certainly not saying that China is a model example of lack of human rights abuses, but it is time to put things in perspective, look at our own house and get that in order before we tell others how to live theirs. Peace --------- --------- To Walawala. Thanks for the email, however, the WHO (world health organization) expressly forbids illegal organ harvesting and sales. China is a signatory to those accords. Also, a Chinese national was recently elected to be chair of that organization. Since that is the case, the UN Members of WHO would not have elected a member to chair the organization if China was in violation of those accords. With all due respect, I'd say, considering the multiple sources that is available from, the brainwashing is not with me, but rather with you. Peace -------

Let me answer your last question first: Because animals do not preach some mysterious religions, "use God" to justify the West's leaders' foreign policy, or brainwash other people. And Sexy celebrities are more sexy then the Falun Gong. Now, after I have answered this one, let me ask: Who exactly are the Falun Gong? How did they fight against the Axis powers in WW2? How many Allied soldiers, or other people, did they save? How did they protest against the NATO Jihad in 1995 and 1999, or against the aggression against Iraq?

Nope in fact many papers in other countries openly discuss about the organ harvesting. As far as i know, BBC, CNN and Reuters report on it. Former US president Bill Clinton as well as current George Bush are aware of that too. So do many people in Cananda and Australia today. I put a link about a video interview of David Kilgour with reknown Canadian lawyer David Matas about their views. Special host Wenyi Wang discusses with David Kilgour his report on organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Kilgour discusses his international tour with Canadian lawyer David Matas to discuss their findings with government officials and NGOs. They cover new evidence supporting the claim that organs are harvested from live Falun Gong practitioners for transplant as well as general human rights abuses by the Chinese communist regime.
