How much would it take to be a journalist?

What a levels would be good to take if i wanted to become a journalist for a magazine of some sort.?

  • i am not sure which a levels to take for this. I would love to take english language, would that help? I have never done media studies but think it would be good to take, also would media studies include having to stand in front of lots of people explaining things etc. What other a levels should i take. please help me because i am clueless to what to take thanks

  • Answer:

Personally, i feel Media studies is too micky mouse a subject. My Highers are in English, German and Drama. English is an obvious, I learnt a lot about the way English works through learning German and i took Drama because part of it was looking at meaning behind text and also because at the time i was not confident in speaking in public - essential in journalism really - joining the debating club helped my confidence too. Most of the Journalism degree courses stipulate that you must have English as one of your subjects but are not too fussy about the others providing you reach the required grades. Personally, i don't feel it matters greatly what you take as having a broad general knowledge is a great asset in the world of journalism.
