Was Gerry McCann set up by the Spanish TV company.?

  • I have been unable to see the footage myself, but have been asking around, and, it seems they set him up, over the storming out incident, I did think it was odd at the time that it should have been broadcast that way. But, the attached post from another blog, explains what they did. One or two of you might have noticed that I dislike the parents for their neglect of their children, but, this shows what they can expect if they intend goin to Spain, In My Opinion anyway. So, the post was : I have watched the videos of the interview Gerry and Kate gave the Spanish tv Telecinco and I am in the position of telling you not only about what they said but also about what the journalists invited to the panel discussed afterwards. Kate and Gerry were interviewed and the taped interview was played to 6 journalists (all very well-known) who gave both their views and also information they had on the case. One of the journalists comments on the 14 bottles of wine the Tapas9 drank on the night of the disappearance saying what a negligence it is to leave your children alone and unsupervised and drink so much. Others bring in other facts and points of view but they all agree on the McCanns being guilty of negligence - and keep asking the conductor of the interview, Jordi Sevilla, if the McCanns showed any remorse on having neglected their children so badly. They also speak about the speculation and of a waiter who attended the Tapas9 party and who has commented that he heard someone saying that night "This is not the way things were supposed to go". In the interview the couple says many times how frustrating it is that they cannot speak about specifics of the investigation even to correct mistaken facts in the media. Gerry actually gets up and leaves the interview at one point, angry at the questions he is being asked. He rants that the questions are only about the investigation and leaves Kate alone. Kate is unfazed really, she carries on alone for quite long until Gerry returns. The conductor of the interview clearly wants to ask them about the alleged sedation but only gets to the point of wondering how come the children sleep so deeply. In the press, Hola magazine (Hello) says after the blood was discovered the parents turned into the main suspects. El Mundo says Gerry is saying the PJ cannot say he is a suspect because they have no proof agianst him while you can read between the lines that the journalist is seriously considering the possibility that the parents were involved. I has also caught my attention that every time Gerry feels fingers pointing at him he attacks the ineptitude (according to him) of the PJ and says they have no proof. An odd thing to say if you really are clean.

    I got a download of Gerry McCann walking out of an interview, but I don't speak Spanish and had no idea what was being said. I didn't think Gerry looked angry though - he just took off his mike and went. EDIT: Had not thought of it like that Jack H - if so maybe its time Mr McCann realised that the media - of all denominations - is a feral beast that cannot be trusted. Just out to make money at the end of the day. Good point though!

I live in Spain, speak fluent Spanish and say the programme on Telecinco on Saturday. My impressions, Jordi Sevila did not shy away from asking difficult questions and THe Mccans seemed willing to answer. Gerry got annoyed when Jordi persisted with questions related to the investigation which the Mccans are unable to answer. He got up and walked out. Kate looked sadly at him and continued the interview alone. After a short while Gerry came back and insisted that they could not answer questions about the investigation. Certain things can only be commented on by the police. The rest of the interview transpired normally. They answered questions about supposedly "drugging" their children and said that it was normal for thier children to sleep all night, soundly. After the interview the panel of journalists discussed the case and while none condoned the leaving of the children , ALL condemned the "cruel" speculation. Jordi Sevilla gave the impresion of being very moved after meeting the Mccans and of supporting them. He also gave one extra fact, he said that he had walked from the tapas bar to the MCCanns apartment and it had taken him less than 50 seconds. He wasn`t excusing the Mccanns but pointing out that many stories about it taking "5 mins" to get to the apartment were untrue. All of the panellists plus Jordi were wearing find Madeleine bracelets. Other Spanish journalists who have actually met the Mccanns describe them in sympathetic and not critical terms.

Didn't he start the fires in Greece.

That poor child deserved so much better. Would love to know why we are all getting thumbs down, what exactly do these people think Maddy deserved ?

Jomamoeuskadi - the only voice of reason and the only one qualified to understand fluent Spanish. Thanks for giving the details of the interview. I still can't believe that people are going on about the children being left alone in the apartment. That bits been covered and accepted. It was wrong and they know it was wrong. I 've only seen crap written about Gerry McCann. There were two of them. Remember he has a wife. She did an interview with an English paper and throughout the interview she said that they were sorry for leaving Maddie. Nobody seems to mention this at all. THEY WERE WRONG FOR LEAVING THE CHILDREN but it's not going to solve anything. Time can't go back and change what happened that night. You all have the right to say what you feel but some of you are desperate to get stars and thumbs up that you are sinking to the lowest of the low with your conspiracies.

I think Gerry McCann will be set up by any & all of those who want to see him squirm. Its sad really. None of us & those who dislike him so much either, can even begin to understand the grief, stress & pressure he must be under. If he keeps getting defensive by "attacking the ineptitude" & saying "they have no proof", wouldn't you??? Even those who love to hate him (you included Jack h) must admit that there has been shoddiness with regards to journalism involved in this case. Wild speculation has been published has authentic reports just for the sake of coverage. Wouldnt' you call that ineptitude at its worst??? When all you have is your innocence, naturally you'd ask for proof for the cruel insinuations cast against you??? Whats so odd about that? Edit: Thank you Jomamoeuskadi for a fanstastic post!!! An objective concise clear view like your is just what the McCanns need at this time. NOT the vile witch-hunt. Edit: Van der Elst puts it well! Gerry McCann did not look angry...Why then will someone please please please tell me WHY was it reported repeatedly that he STORMED OFF??????? Edit: Well said Saraleon & Tabbyfur!!!

is it just me that thinks they shouldnt have been left alone in the room by themselves in the first place (especially in a foreign country) , everyone seems to have overlooked this matter!
