Who should get paid more : nurses, police or teachers?
-
I think Nurses should get paid most (most have a degree), police second (most don't have a degree, and it's not really as dangerous as they like to claim). Teachers least because they are just bouncers nowadays.

Answer:
They all contribute to a civilised society just in different ways so they should all be paid a decent and livable wage regardless. All of them are valued professions and should be treated as such

well ,of course nurses -they are underpaid for the job that they do. but then being in a room full of a bunch of' someone else's' kids is a horrible nightmare. and the special education kids too. there is no reason that a teacher should make less than a cop. and the cop is a public servant. when have you ever seen a police officer keep the' peace' without giving everyone a piece ??

Actually, a lot of the police I know have Criminal Justice Degrees. Your logic is faulty. I believe it should be teachers because they shape our future. The nurses and police just help clean up the mess if the teachers don't do the job in the first place....just my opinion. If the teachers are good at what they do then we'll wind up with a better educated and civilized society, so in my opinion we need to pay them more.

That is a really difficult question to answer as all three jobs have merit and have their place in society. I think that police should be paid more, as they never know when they leave home for the day's work, what will be in store for them. Some of the things they have to do and some of the things they see must be horrendous for them, I don't know how they can continue without counseling on a weekly basis. They potentially could put their lives on the line every day. As a nurse, I know how hard the profession is. Unfortunately there are not enough of us out there to go around. We are often over worked as far as hours go. However, nursing in itself has changed so much over the past 30 years that I have been associated with the profession. Years ago it was hard work because we had hands on care. Now, however, so much of our work is regulations and paperwork and we have staff that do much of the hands on care. I think nurses should be paid more than what they get, but their jobs don't compare to that of the police. Teachers, gosh what I can I say about teachers. These poor souls have their hands tied, first by the government telling they can't do this and they can't do that. They spend so much time "disciplining" the children who won't behave that they don't have time to teach the kids who want to learn. I don't envy their position. Then they have to deal with the parents who feel their child/children can do no wrong and it's the teacher's problem and she can't get along with their child. I think they should make a lot more money too. I look at other occupations that pay more than any of these occupations pay. Some trash collectors make more than these people do. Now I am glad my trash gets collected, however, you don't need a college education to collect trash. There are other occupations too numerous to count. My point is that these three jobs are all tough and they all required a lot of training -- and we should respect these people and pay them what they are worth.

Nurses because as you say most have a degree and work exceptionally hard under difficult circumstances. Teachers next as they also have a degree and work under sometimes very dangerous circumstances. As for policemen, they should take a drop until somebody Proves that they exist. By proof I mean actually seeing one, Not just a photo, One that actually moves. Traffic police don't count.
If you are ill, NURSES. If you need help, the POLICE. If you are stupid, TEACHERS.

what a ridiculous question........
ditto
they all play a very valid part in society and their pay should reflect that.
