What is a Social Concern?

1.Name three social issues that really concern you?,?

  • In naming these issues, how has your own lived experience influenced your assumptions, biases, beliefs of the issues? What sources and/or people did or do you rely on for your understanding of the social world, either formally or informally?

  • Answer:

    1. Over population. a. I decided to have only one child. b. Watching the world population explode in my lifetime taught me I didn't want to be a part of the problem. 2. Violence towards children. a. Having experienced it first hand, i.e., child molestation. b. My mother and the legal system. I learned that the legal system isn't capable of handling this issue because it isn't a federal offence and it should be. 3. Religious fanaticism. a. Watching the world get cut up in little pieces and divided only so they can use their religious beliefs to hate and destroy others, mainly led by men. b. 30+ years of social study and theological debate taught me that this is a problem that is inate to human nature and there is nothing I can do about it but sit back and watch the horror.

Crime Taxes terrorism. I have become more conservative. I believe in severe punishment for criminals. Having seen my share of crimescene photos I believe in evil (not meaning anything like satan), the only way to defeat it is to destroy it. And because of this I carry a concealed weapon permit. The chances of me having to use my weapon are slim to none, but I would rather have a gun and NEVER need, than not have one and be dead. But I have had more training than the average bear too. Lower taxes allows people to keep more of their money and therefore allows them to pull themselves out of poverty. While terrorism could easily fall under crime, it is different because it was a declaration of war on us. The only way to stop it is the same way you deal with bullies, hit them so hard that they stay down. And anyonee no matter where they come from if they want to destroy this country is/and should be our enemy. I rely heavily on The Bible, the Federalist Papers, and the constitution. I have also studied the Communist Manifesto ineffort to decide my world view (which I fully reject as 'drunken drivel') I get my news from the Drudgereport, Foxnews, and CNN. For deceminating on what I believe I ask the question that my Criminal Justice professor told us was the first rule in interrorgating a suspect, "Why is this person lying to me?" The theory is if the person can convince you that they are telling the truth then that is the way it is.
