What was the largest tsunami ever happened?

What would have happened to a reactor in Japan if it was hit by a Tsunami & the building was washed away?

  • This is a horrifying thought but I was thinking what if one (or more) of those reactors in Japan was hit by a large (50+ ft) wave of a Tsunami & the building was washed away or utterly destroyed? This happened to many structures over there, but none of them housed nuclear material(s). It seems that most if not all nuclear reactors are situated near water or a beach (the only one I've seen is the San Onofre power plant which freaks me out everytime i drive to San Diego). Maybe some scientist can answer this (maybe I don't wanna know), but I'm watching Japan desperately struggle to stop a meltdown, but what if there was no equipment or anything left to fight with? What if EVERYTHING was COMPLETELY washed away??

  • Answer:

    A nuclear disaster.
