Help! is fafsa.com a scam?

Is kony 2012 a scam? help?

  • Ok i saw video and felt it changed my life/way of thinking, me and my dad are looking to donate $30, but i looked up if it was a scam and it said that only 30% of profit goes to the children, but then i thought, they never said they where donateing to the children, they are just raiseing awareness. Am i right. But i guess if i was wondering if i donate, will it go to a good cause? Also all the sites that said it was a scam, where shady un-reputable sites, but the story was on nbc nightly news and i dought they would brodcast a story that was a scam.

  • Answer:

Wow only now do people become aware of what's going on in Africa, or is it only now that people care about it. All talk and no action 10 years from now Africa will be the same and Kony will die from natural causes a free man and your wasted donations will do nothing. It's a moving movie, but unless you go yourself to Uganda and help the people directly, your donation will do little.

Kony2012.com only exists to make money for....Kony2012.com. You are correct that they never say what they're going to do with the money. Good. That shows you're thinking and not just reacting out of emotion. And if their goal is to simply raise awareness, why the 2nd website? Invisible Children (who made the video) already has their own website - AND they are a charity, just an awful shady one. Besides, the video has now gotten over 50,000,000 hits in less than 4 days. You can barely go 30 seconds on the internet without someone telling you about this video and/or Kony2012, and even the international news sources are covering it. SO....mission accomplished? Why do they need money? Unfortunately the news media is not doing a complete job of reporting the story. For instance, I've yet to hear any of the news stations mention the fact that the UN led a mission back in 2006 with troops from around the world to take out Kony and his army. They were mostly successful. The army was disbanded, most of the senior officers were either captured or killed, Kony fled the country and hasn't been seen since. Some think he was killed. Either way, this is a protest about a man who may not even be alive anymore and an army that hasn't existed for nearly 6 years. And no one's been able to answer the question of how taping posters around town is supposed to actually DO anything. Again, 50,000,000 hits. International news coverage. How much more awareness are you going to get from this event over a month later? Finally, does the date 4/20 ring any bells? It should. In fact, THIS cause that holds its annual protest in this date, stands to be the big winner from all this. Makes me wonder what's really going on here...

Alright. IC, (Invisible Children) i am assuming you are questioning. Heres whats true. IC only donates 32% of the money donated, to Uganda. But honestly, are we so selfish as to focus on where the money goes, rather than ridding of Kony? Consider this. The other 68% is used for, The TRAVEL, the MOVIE MAKING, and THE STAFF. But lets think about this logically. If it weren't for the money SPENT on the movie making the staff, and the travel, would everyone know who KONY is? No. We wouldn't. KONY is real; the money, you could consider is a scam. If ya got the extra money, and you understand it doesn't directly go to Uganda, then donate. Keep in mind its the movie making, the staff, and the travel thats made all this possible. So who are we to question it? KONY is real and its a big issue that needs to be solved. My advice if you DONT want to donate is, print out some KONY 2012 posters and get out there on April 20th and do 'cover the night.' Your still supporting a worthy cause, but you aren't 'wasting' your money, (If you would even call that 'wasting'.) There are lots of people saying that KONY isn't even in that part of Uganda anymore. Thats POSSIBLE. Even so, the IC isn't a scam. Like i said don't donate to IC if you don't want to. Just spread the word and do 'cover the night' on April 20th, because even if KONY is not committing crimes anymore, don't you think he still deserves to be captured? What i know, is I'm not letting all those kids that have died, go for nothing. KONY will be captured regardless of whether his crimes have ceased or not.

No. It is not a scam. Just do some research of www.konycoverthenight.org. Is has all of the information there. Only 37% of profits raised by the Invisible Children Organization goes directly to the case. You should also check out the website http://www.konyninja.com/kony-shirts. It is donating 50% of its profits to the Kony cause.

There are a lot of questions and not enough answers. Just wait before you send anyone money. We ought to find out answers soon enough. Kony is no longer in Uganda, BTW.
