What is the latest research on AIDS?

Why are we still funding AIDS research?

  • I don't get it. Back in the '80's, people were getting AIDS from blood transfusions and unprotected sex because they didn't know any better. However, we now know that AIDS is a totally preventable disease. You can't get it from blood transfusions anymore and we know that condoms work. So the only people getting AIDS now are those idiots who have unprotected sex. I don't want to pay for the sexual irresponsibility of another. I think AIDS is a great population control tool.

    I so agree. I have been parrotting your sentiments for quite a while but it seems not many think like I do. Just to add, druggies are also at risk of getting AIDS through infected needles/syringes but who cares about them more so than someone who has got cancer through no fault of their own.?

Yes, except that people don't always know they have it (since it takes a decade for it to start showing), and children are born with AIDS if the mother has it.

I tend to agree but we need to develop something much quicker. Aids takes years to kill and that means wasting resources caring fo the victims.

Politics is the reason we fund useless programs - As you pointed out "common sense" is ignored and people have unprotected sex but then they want everyone to save them from the consequences of their own stupidity.. P

Because a lot of what get it are Homosexuals and poor blacks and they would raise holy hell if we quit funding it and blame it on everything but their bad life choices. I agree I am tired of funding research for it. Especially the research in Vietnam on male prostitutes that we are funding. Just stupid, but that's our government at work, wasting our tax dollars every chance they get.
