Why is Israel pushing for war with Iran?

    The Israeli people are not pushing for war, but their government is rather right wing (actually, very right wing) and there are many domestic reasons why Benjamin Netanyahu is leading a charge against Iran. I don't really understand the nuances of Israeli society well enough to say exactly what these domestic reasons are, but there are also foreign policy problems for Israel if Iran gets a nuclear weapon: 1). Israel will lose nuclear hegemony in the region. 2). At least one Arab government (Saudi Arabia) has stated that if Iran develops nuclear weapons, they will purchase some of their own. This could trigger a regional arms race. 3). Iran is allied with several countries that Israel counts as enemies- and these countries count Israel as their enemy, including Lebanon and the current (embattled) Syrian government. There are some fears that this will embolden these governments. 4). The president of Iran has made statements that, while the jury is out on the quality of their translation, are perceived as very threatening. It should be noted that what Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was getting at in his speech was, apparently, that he believes that Israel should be Palestine and that there should be only a Palestine. That may or may not mean that he wishes to drop a nuclear bomb on Israel, but Ahmadinejad actually does not have the authority to do this anyway. The Supreme Leader controls all foreign policy and nuclear activity in Iran, not the president and he and Ahmadinejad are rather at odds with one another. I don't like Iran's government or the idea of more nuclear bombs going around, but you should know that Netanyahu is really just a warmonger. There are corporate and political reasons for this, but the sentiment is unpopular in Israel, according to polls. Israelis (the people, that is) are, despite what some people say, not determined to wipe out non-Jews.

Because american and Israel are allies and just gave them nuclear weapons... Oh yeah I forgot.. america always wants to control everything, this is why I hate america and this is why I refuse to respect the country and capitalize it hehehe

Because according to the talmud spilling the blood of a gentile is a sacrifice to god. Israel wants to break the back of all its neighbours it does not have the ability to defeat iran so is encouraging other countries to commit this crime. This though hopefully will be a turning point, iran is strong and so are her allies the nations that have given in to Israel's demands in the past are growing tired of the threats and lies, but they have a strong hold, assassination after assassination. Maybe obama will give in, as Qaddafi said the memory of what happened to his predecessor kennedy when he defied Israel will have much baring on his decision.

Israel is receiving 4+ Billion dollars in US aid each year. We have unemployed, uninsured Americans stuggling, children getting education cutts. Our tax money is going straight to Israel. Why?????? Israel is a small country the size of Jersey making they are in no such position to make ANY demands. Why should one American Soul die for Israel.

Because Israel wants to be top dog in the mid east so it never has to leave the occupied territories, treat the Palestinians like human beings or make peace. Egypt is neutralized, Syria is no threat and Iraq is destroyed. The other Arab countries are powerless which leaves Iran as the only Mid East power with the strength and will to frustrate Israeli designs.

Well, if you were in Israel's position, you'd be quite concerned concerning Iran. Though, mostly Israelis aren't pushing for war.... they are just making sure that option is open, but are more in favor for diplomacy. Which, hasn't really helped them in past years, but they still would like to avoid war.

I have no patience with these middle east Countries, as their only aim in life is to pick guns up and shoot all their neighbours .If they are not fighting they are on their knees praying in their Mosques...and call themselves Religious people. I just wonder what they want while they are on this Earth...it is not Peace thats for sure. They never seem to work, but expect handouts from other Countries., like the UK... because we have no work for our own people as all the Industries have gone overseas.
