What is the zip-code of Uganda?

Is Kony 2012 basically a campaign to generate support for Uganda as a reward for their help in Somalia?

  • Since it no longer reflects the current situation in Uganda, accurately states the location of the majority of Kony's force, or even mentions the use of child soldiers by Uganda's own army, is it a public advocacy campaign to legitimise the Ugandan military and generate public support for the government following their commitment to the African Union Mission to Somalia? America has had troops assisting Uganda for years - the U.S. Africa Command, that even 'assisted' in the disastrous 2008 Operations Lightning Thunder to wipe out the LRA main base in Congo. It failed (as did others into Sudan) and the response from Kony was the 2009 abduction of 700 people and the deaths of even more. Or now that substantial oil deposits have been found in Uganda, is this media campaign a drive to whitewash over the Ugandan atrocities against their own people (forced incarceration into camps in appalling conditions with thousands of resultant deaths, forced military recruitment even for minors) and lend a sense of honour to a public deployment of American troops that will in reality only be increasing numbers already present? Regional stability is an unquestioningly honourable goal. But is the simplistic and childish language of the Kony 2012 media blitz masking a deeper & far more cynical purpose? http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/136673/mareike-schomerus-tim-allen-and-koen-vlassenroot/obama-takes-on-the-lra?page=2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kony_2012#Criticisms_of_U.S._military_assistance

  • Answer:

No it's not. Uganda struck oil in 2006 but only now is it ready to be pumped out so American-based "charity" Invisible Children, in conjuction with the CIA, constructed this "Kony 2012" video and over-hyped it so that they could get support for an invasion on the basis that the American people want rid of Joseph Kony even though in reality Kony hasn't been seen since 2006 and some reports say that he is dead. You see, Mr Kony has allegedly been committing atrocities since 1986, but the oil has only become "available" now and so that's why you've only just heard of Kony, because they need a mandate to invade Uganda and as a direct result of this video, Joseph Kony outrages the American voters. The question for us all, particularly the American public (lied to so many times by its own Government in the past) is, what are we gonna do about it?
