Why are people rushing to crucify the Sanford Police Department?

  • Why are you people rushing to crucify the Sanford Police Department. my working with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office has brought me into close contact with not only low officers from that department but also high up officers. The Sanford Police Department refused to release a lot of information after the homicide which is more than likely the reason this started, however think about it for a minute with a rational and unbiased brain. If someone told you something and you were investigating it would you make a clear statement about it before the investigation is over only to be proven wrong when the investigation is over? If you answer no to that question you are more than likely a liar or someone who just doesn't have common sense. So when things started to heat up Chief Bill Lee (Chief of Sanford Police Department) was one of the first people to ask for not only the FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement which is our state law enforcement agency) but also the FEDERAL Department of Justice to help investigate this for an unbiased answer, the reason Zimmerman was not arrested and is still not arrested is the Self Defense law, which basically states that if someone as attacking you and you used force it is okay, now while I think the law may be misinterpreted on this case the Sanford Police Department has it's hands tied, it cannot make an arrest because it would be violating state law. Granted Zimmerman did things that he was not supposed to do (namely following Trayvon) but still, you have to remember that Zimmerman did not come out with no injuries whatsoever, he had to go to the hospital to have doctors reset his nose in place. So that makes me think Trayvon may not have been totally innocent like the parents are claiming, one more thing about the news. The news is only showing pictures of him from when he was 10-13. Trayvon was 17 years old when this happened, why don't we get to see a picture of him now? Maybe it's so we don't see what a hood he was. Personally I will defend the Sanford Police Department to whoever wants to challenge me, but next time please try to see both sides before asking such a ridiculous question about this.

    I agree with most of what you say but ..... your question was why are people rushing to crucify the Sanford P.D. - I think I can answer that. They have arrested Mr. Zimmerman. I find it hard to believe that someone can take the life of another person and not be held accountable. Whether he intentionally or accidentally killed Trayvon, shouldn't he be arrested for it. Involuntary manslaughter. I mean if you kill someone while drunk driving, it wasn't your intention but your actions caused a death so you have to pay for it. I also agree that Obama needs to keep his stupid face out of these kinds of things. He's forever injecting himself where he has no place. He should offer his comments up to his wife at the supper table. You'd think he'd have enough presidential things to do anyway. I think it's just a deflection on the poor job he's doing. Thankfully there's always something else going on.

Because it turns out taking that kind of hands off approach to the police causes a lot more injustice than can be recognized. We've had decades of history with Police abuses, and them stonewalling in their blue line. You know what that does? Destroys the trust and respect that people might have for the police. Chief Bill Lee was just covering his *** when the brown stuff started to hit the fan. That doesn't foster a sense of respect, but goes to show even more why it doesn't work. The Sanford Police did not have its hands tied, they could have made an arrest, they could have taken the gun, they could have at least taken Zimmerman into custody, given him a test for drugs or intoxicants. They didn't. They basically walked away from it, and convinced EVERYBODY EXCEPT THE CONSERVATIVE BLOGOSPHERE that something fishy is going on. Much like the Catholic Church, by burying the priest abuse has convinced many others that we can't trust them. You're the one who has the problem with seeing the other side. Try to recognize that. Or don't bother, and convince the rest of us even more that you can never be trusted. Tell us how that works out.

Because they are inept morons and would be fired from any city or county in California where if a cop even discharges his gun, there is an inquiry. We don't have Hold your Ground, poorly written laws in this state. You are not allowed to confront, pick a fight and gun down someone on a public street with impunity. It is called living in a state with civilized laws. Jeez, how many times do we have to fight the Civil War (1960's voting rights movement) to get "you people" to treat black people equally.? Notice I didn't call you a liar or question your intelligence because you disagree with me. That is called having a civilized discussion. Give it up the South will not rise again no matter how many Afro Americans you disenfranchise at election time nor allow vigilantes to kill nor murder on death row when they are innocent ( Troy Davis)

People are collectively outraged about this case for individual reasons, some see it as white on black, some see it as the man with the gun chased down the unarmed kid, killed him then claimed self defense, some see it as the stand your ground law gives license to anyone with a gun to kill and walk, some see it as systematic change of laws backed by certain corporations only to put their product indiscriminately in everyone's hand for profit, some see it as the demise of social order and responsibility in general.... unfortunately when elected lawmakers rewrite social expectations on the demand of their deep pocket political contributers and something like this happens as a result, they take no responsibility and it rolls downhill to the guys on the frontline, the Sanford Police.
