How do you convince your parents to let you get a driving permit?

How can i convince my parents to let me get a job at 14?

  • im a very responsible, i make A's and B's, and im extremely mature, i even help them with there weird marriage issues, plus i cook all the meals and clean the house. but, my parents wont let me babysit, work at McDonald's, walk dogs, or bag groceries at a store! and they don't have any $ to pay me for chores without my mom taking a 2nd job. and this summer i really want to go to the movies with my friends or get some new clothes! my dad wont let me babysit cause he thinks will get sued! he wont let me work at a store cause he thinks its illegal no matter how many times i tell him it isn't! and he wont let me walk dogs cause hes afraid I'l lose them or they get into a fight! (and i walk my own dog all the time!) hes already teaching me how to drive so i can get my permit soon! and is gonna let me get my cartilage pierced! but he wont let me get a job! do you guys have any idea of how i could convince him or a way for me to make money? iv already tried a survey site but the sites confuse me and i never get paid! thx!

  • Answer:

Depending on where you live, 14 may be too young to work at stores or McDonald's. Because of child labor laws most companies won't hire less than 16. Also you might be a bit young to baby sit unless it's very close to your home where your parents can be there quickly if necessary. It's tough on you but there are many kids in your situation and they just tough it out. Concentrate on school and grades. When you get further along in high school you can be thinking of earning money.r

just be like "mom, dad, i want to start being responsible and making some money of my own, to go out with my friends." tell them that if they don't let you try, you'll never know if you can work. *also start looking for some diff. jobs. hope i helped =]

my brother had that problem. he just told them that he will keep his grades up and that he will contribute as much money as possible to the fmily since the economy is so bad. job ideas: tutor students type papers(thats what i do) rake lawns take old clothes to a conignment shop. if your clothes dont have stains or rips in them they will take the clothes. (i live in NY State and take my clothes to The Attic Place and Platos Closet.....easy way to earn cash!)

"K" You have a job. It is going to school and getting straight "A"s and always staying on top of it. Your parents are the ones that need to make the call here. If you want money then you need to explain to your dad why you want it. Explain that the teen years are formidable ones and that your peers and you are building your social skills. Without being able to go out and do a few things then you are going to end up being held back in your social development. Since you are mature, you should be able to sit and explain these things with them and have an grown up conversation. There are a lot of programs out there for you though. Some schools have an after school program for financially deprived people that will give you a bit of folding money. Beyond that, gather some of the things you have that you consider junk and start selling it on eBay. See if you can make a few dollars that way. Make sure your parents approve. The biggest thing here is that they have to let go of their "little girl" and you have to show the responsibility and development skills that prove you are no longer a kid.
