How do I get my boyfriend more interested in sex?

  • Hi, I really need a little advice here. My partner and I have been together for 12 years but only lived together for 8 months. Before we moved in together I was caring for my dad who was very ill for a long time. As a consequence our sex life suffered and we had sex maybe once a week. I assumed that once our situation changed so would our sex life but now we have sex maybe twice a week (if I'm lucky). I have a fairly high sex drive and would really like sex more. I'm beginning to get a little frustrated. I know that he really loves me and I would never consider leaving him purely because I need sex more often than him but this is starting to get me down. I'm not great at initiating sex as I don't have a lot of confidence and the few times I have initiated he turned me down saying he just wasn't in the mood. The way I see things is when he wants sex he initiates, so any attempt by me is rather pointless. Is there anything I can do to change this or do I just have to live with the fact that we have very different sex drives? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you for your time.

    The first thing you should do is to sit down with him and talk about it. Compromise might be the answer. If this doesn't help, you might be in a situation where this is a do it yourself project.
