What are some ways be become a swiss resident?

Gay Marriage / resident ship?

  • I met my boy friend in US while I was a student. After graduate I had to go home due to Vsia expire. My Bf decided to go to Taiwan with me. We tried to settle dwon in Taiwan but he didn't get his student visa this semester (he has be in Taiwan for more than one year). He has to go back to US. Is it possible that I can become a resident of US if we get married, so we can stay together ? Is there any other ways to do that?

Unfortunately, the US federal govt does not recognize same-sex marriage. Although a few states offer either marriage or civil unions to same-sex couples, those marriages are not recognized in every other state in the nation nor are they valid for federal benefits, including immigration. Canada does allow same sex couples to get married, but I do not know about their immigration laws. Your situation is one of the reasons people are pushing so hard to get gay marriage accepted in the US.

True love will find a way. It looks like the only thing that can help you now is time. It looks like you need to get both of yours' education behind you before you can do anything legally. The U.S (unfortunately) frowns on same-sex marriage, and those limited areas that do recognize civil unions have no federal benefits - only state with its limitations.
