What does immediate vacant possession mean?

Extended Summer Possession by the mother- WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

  • Extended Summer Possession by the mother- If the mother gives the father written notice by April 15 of a year or gives the father fourteen days' written notice on or after April 16 of a year, the mother may designate one weekend beginning no earlier than the day after the child's school is dismissed for the summer vacation and ending no later than seven days before school resumes at the end of the summer vacation, during which an otherwise scheduled weekend period of possession by the father shall not take place in that year, provided that the weekend so designated does not interfere with the father period or periods of extended summer possession or with Father's Day Weekend. AND WHY DOES THE MOTHER EVEN GET THIS IF SHE TAKES A WEEKEND FROM ME DURING MY JULY VISIT. I don't understand what the reasoning is for this weekend to be given to the mother or CP. They get the child 90% of the time anyways so if they decide to take this weekend then it means i don't see my child for almost a month.

  • Answer:

I don't really understand it, either. Perhaps you could talk to your ex and explain that regardless of what the divorce decree says, you want to spend as much time as you can with your kid(s) and that is in their best interest to know that their dad loves them enough to do whatever he can to spend time with them. If she is truly a loving mom, she will realize that having two parents who love and support them is what's best for the kids.
