Did I say the wrong thing?

Did I say the wrong thing when boyfriend asked me if I wanted to get married...(Read details for more)?

  • Boyfriend of 6 months was talking to me through text messages last night. He asked me if I'd like to get married. Of course I said one of these days. Wasn't the answer he was expecting I guess. So now he thinks I played it off and we're not going to go anywhere. How was I suppose to answer. Who wants to be asked through text message, phone, or instant message. It has to be done right and I told him that. So now hes mad or well upset. Did I say the wrong thing? How was I suppose to know he was asking right?

  • Answer:

No, of course you didn't say the (wrong) thing. If you said it it was probably for a reason. If you want to apoligize go ahead it will be for a reason. Everything is for a reason. If you feel like you made a mistake don't change time, just learn from it.

well if u asked me personally...marriage is not a text message subject...should be in person. You need to talk to him in private and discuss the matter. Good luck

your answer was right. what kind of question is that after just 6 months? and by text msg to boot? puhleez. Now he's mad. Poor baby. Wants to make you the guilty one. Sounds like he has a lot of growing up to do. I say run for the hills, sister.

At least you know a little more about his romantic side... or lack thereof. Sheesh, if he really doesn't understand, maybe you know more about his intelligence as well... or... well, you get the idea.

I don't think so. Some guys (like me) are pretty dense sometimes. This is a good thing to happen though because you both obviously need to learn more about each other before you jump in. I had to over hear a girl once say that she would not like to be asked out via e-mail to "get it"

You wasn't supposed to know, he doesn't really know you because if he did, he would have known not to text you a question like that. This has set you back but it's not over. Just let him know, that question in your mind was going to be asked a little different.

If it was what you meant it was the right thing. When it comes to relationships two people have to be at the same place and want the same thing at approcximately the same time. He may think he is ready and you are not ready. I think a text message is not a good way to express this either. Get together and talk through where you are at.

First of all who would say yes through a text message? i mean please were is the ring, flowers, and getting on one knee. Heck compared to the way he asked if he would simply take your hand and ask you...geesh, Get him a book on the arts of romancing a woman...lol Secondly, you should even have to ask this question, you should be a strong enough woman to know for yourself that you aren't going to marry some guy who won't come out and just, not to mention doing it over text message.

Don't worry, you are correct. The guy has to be completely responsible and ask you in person, heck - have him ask your parents for your hand (the old fashioned way) this will show that he is serious. Although six months is too short really, you have things to think about like financial issues and where you will live. Then again, if he acts this way - he really is too imature for marriage. I'm thinking you are not ready for marriage either.

you did nothing wrong and if he can not see that..maybe he is not the one for you. you are right..it needs to be done in person and done the proper way.. I believe in asking the parents first, then the girl and even down on one knee with the ring and all that is the right way .. you did nothing wrong....he did it wrong and your the one who should be upset at him.
