can you stop loving someone you love very much? how to cope with the pain? my friend life has turned very sad.shes 22 and very much in love this guy who is around 32.The problem is that he is in an open relationship(everyone knows-he didn't tell her,it is the truth) with a child and does not have a very clear image. He is a good ,handsome guy but certain things are a turn off.Yet she loves him a lot. The main problem is that her life has practically stopped in the tracks. When shes upset she tries hard not to cry and over think but eventually breaks down.when she sees his photos etc He doesn't hurt her intentionally she will always say. as her feelings are not known to him.Shes wanting to tell him but fears a lot like if he has another child, etc etc. She cannot get over him .she always says that how can i forget him when hes with me in heart and soul everyday, refusing to go?! and refuses to have any other guy in her heart.except him.saying that if its not him then no one can ever take his place in her heart as she experienced true love only for him.no guy even if hes super hot doesnt attract her. any ideas on how she can stop loving him? Additional Details has no family either.

Answer:
I think people tend to do really stupid things when they say they are "in love", and they aren't. I mean, anyone in any logical sense wouldn't fall in love with a guy like that. I wouldn't. I understand being in love with someone and then getting over them is hard to do, but like others would say, you can get pass it. She really needs to go and see someone to help counsel her emotions. She really does seem like someone who's really inexperience in anything to do with love at this point. She needs to tell her herself that she doesn't love him, burn all his photos, get rid of everything that reminds her of him, etc. Having that stuff around is not going to make it easy for her to forget him. She needs to find all the negative things she doesn't like and understand that she can't be with this man since she says he's in an "open relationship". Seriously though, SHE NEEDS TO GROW UP!!! Well, hoped I helped. Good luck.

It takes time to get past it. Bottom line this 22 year old is acting like a 13 year old, she needs to grow up and mature. Hopefully this experience will teach a few lessons and accelerate her emotional growth.
