Should I stop ignoring my friend?

• We're both 16. I'm just going to nickname her Myra. Myra would always diss my music taste. "Ew Michael Buble!" or "OMG she sucks. Did you hear that she..." She called me a lesbian because I didn't like Justin Bieber. I asked if she wanted to see the Harry Potter premiere last summer. She said she was busy. That story changed to "I'm going with some other friends" and "your theater sucks." On opening night, I saw her lining up at the theater I originally suggested with her friends. I asked if she wanted to meet up sometime and she said "maybe." Then she asked if her boyfriend could come along. I was hesitant because I knew about the "third wheel" rule. So we never met up. Another time we planned a get together and she texted me at the last minute saying "oh sh!t I have horse riding." I was crushed. Then I asked if we could meet up in the morning even though I'm not a morning person. She said "yes" and we had a great time. I asked if she wanted to see the premiere for the Hunger Games two months in advance. She said she was going to Vegas for Spring Break. Then it changed to "oh I'm going with some other friends." Yesterday, I saw her at the same theater a few rows back before the previews and she was calling my name and waving. At this point I was so mad at her I just ignored her. Even when her friends called me stuck up I didn't acknowledge them. I started texting my other friends. During the ending credits she yelled "HEY!" and threw an empty bag of popcorn against my head. I just walked out of the theater afterwards and cried on the way home. I decided to spend the rest of my Spring Break with my other friend Sam on the Coast and Myra was furiously texting me. So I just stuffed my phone under my pillow at my friend's place and didn't pick up. Myra called me and since I don't have Caller ID I thought it was an emergency from home. Then she was like "WHY ARE YOU IGNORING ME?!" and I said "Sorry you have the wrong number, bye." then I hung up.

  It sounds like you may have not told her about all these things that she did to upset you. She was out of line a few times, but the fact that she actually cares that you're ignoring her shows that she either values your friendship or that she's one of those who likes to control people and hates the thought of losing one of her followers (but let's hope that's not the case). I think you should call her back, say you're sorry for ignoring her, wait for her to blow off steam and cool down and tell her everything you just brought up here so that she can see things the way you do. Maybe she'll give some kind of logical reasons for it, or she'll see what she was like and say sorry herself, or she'll take offense to the accusations and start upsetting you even more. If the last instance is what happens, I think you shouldn't just ignore her, but cease to think of her as a friend. It also seems like she may have some kind of warped sense of friendship, but I'd have to see that kind of thing for myself. For any kind of relationship to by successful, the absolutely HAS to be communication, so be open with her. Good luck. Also, you should be praised for not liking Justin Beiber, not called a lesbian.
