USPS shipping time question?

Question about USPS Shipping?

  • Okay Well I'm recieving a package via USPS. But the thing is the sender is so close to me. I went on USPS's website and calculated about how long it might take for the item to reach me, it says 1 day. But is that 1 day in transit time or it just so close it can't say anything lower than one day. Would it be, one day to ship it, then one day in transit, then the next day it would deliver it? Or would it be ship day, and next day is delivery since its so close. And i do mean CLOSE, the location is less the 20 miles away from me. But I don't understand how USPS calculates it ship time since it doesn't give a specific date. Unlike USPS, UPS actually gives a day. For UPS they said if its shipped on monday, it would arrive tuesday. But USPS only says, if shipped on monday the speed is 1 day. Also I was wondering, does USPS move items over night? Or do they only work during day time.

  • Answer:

Typically 1 day to the USPS means the next day service. If you place your item in the mail by the last pick up service(5 pm.) the mail will be delivered the next day. The U.S.P.S. Works 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Although the counters only work certain hours 5 and 6 days a week.
