Is The American Mall Model Search [AMMS] a scam?

  • Okay so. I signed up for it, just for fun, at a mall. Then, last night, they called me and said that they wanted me to audition. I went today & I had to do a commercial and walk on the runway. They picked 12 finalists, and I was one of them. Now the next round is a photo shoot, talent show, and fashion show. But for the photo shoot, we had to pay $150. My mom deposited $50. So. I came home, and I searched online for AMMS, and there's questions asking if it's a scam. So. Is AMMS a scam? Cuz they're asking us for money and stuff. Now, if I pass the photo shoot, talent show, and fashion show, I get a contract. But I was surfing on the web & I found that some people passed but didn't even sign a contract yet. They said for a real model search, you don't have to pay. SO IS AMMS A SCAM OR NOT?

    I was there last night as well at the Sawgrass Mall and I don't think it's a scam. If you look on their website it shows you all of the success stories of people who did well and actually got accepted into commercials, modeling for Ford Models, etc. I'm actually supposed to be joining a photoshoot competition on Saturday lol.. Hopefully it'll be worth the money :P

I don't know that company but have never known any legitimate model search to charge entrants a photo shoot fee. A free photo shoot should be part of the winning prize, not something you pay for. For legitimate model searches like Ford Supermodel of the World, Elite Model Look, Seventeen Magazine Model Search, Roxy Model Search, etc you never pay anything to enter and do not pay for photos. And which company do you get a contract with if you win? What is the prize when you win? It should be at least a contract with a top agency, portfolio shoot, cash prize, and prizes from their corporate sponsors (free clothes, free flights, free beauty/hair products, etc)
