Where is my Priority Mail package?

I bought a jacket from someone on 6/17 and as of today, 7/8, I have yet to receive it. The delivery confirmation number brings up: Class: Priority Mail® Service(s): Delivery Confirmation™ Status: Processed through Sort Facility Your item was processed through and left our BELL, CA 90201 facility on June 26, 2009. The item is currently in transit to the destination. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later. Detailed Results: Processed through Sort Facility, June 26, 2009, 4:48 am, BELL, CA 90201 Electronic Shipping Info Received, June 23, 2009 It's been 12 days since the package was processed through the Bell, CA sort facility. This package is going to Houston, TX. I've ordered stuff from CA before and each and every time, it has only taken 2 days through Priority Mail. Is my package lost? Or is it still stuck in CA? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Edward Additional Details I've contacted USPS many times to no avail. They tell me that my package was processed through the Los Angeles BMC in Bell, CA even though that facility doesn't process Priority Mail items. If that is the case, I'm wondering if it's just sitting there in the facility, as they claim there's no way it would still be there. Also, I've heard some bad things about that BMC, so I'm worried that they just screwed up and that it's going to cost me in the end.

If you don't receive your package, contact the sender and see if they have insurance on the package. You should not be out anything since you never received the package. It is possible that the package was mistakenly routed to the wrong destination and that it is just taking longer to reach you then normal. I would also go to the postal inspection service websit at http://postalinspectors.uspis.gov and click on the link for mail theft under the consumer awareness section. Click on the mail theft link again on the next screen. This will bring up a form that you can fill out for lost mail. If the jacket was new and became separated from the package, it would be sent to the mail recovery center. This form is automatically forwarded to there and if the item went there they will send it to you. Also call 1-800-ASK-USPS and report that you have not received this mail package so that a record is made of the incident.
