Whats the reason behind a busy post office phone?

• A post office down in Beaumont CA left a message regarding a package and its delivery confirmantion, wanting me to call them back. However, the post office number has had a busy signal for 2 hours and seeing how I live in Oregon I cant really go down there to chat in person. Is there a reason as to why the phone would be busy and why would they be calling me regarding my package delivery confirmation? (FYI My package was lost in for a few days until they found it still in the original destination)

  I would double check at the USPS.com website to make sure that the phone number you were given was actually from a post office. The post office would have no way of knowing what your phone number is unless it was on the outside of the package. This sounds like someone might be trying to scam you. Call 1-800-ASK-USPS and talk to the operators there to have your issue reviewed by the post office.
