I want to get a job at my local pet shop?

I'm planning on asking my local pet shop owner if she would like any help during the Christmas holidays.I'm not sure what to say to her? I'v been going to the pet shop every morning before school for the last year :) But my friend moved to my school about 3 weeks ago And has been coming to the shop with me for about 2 weeks. She told me today that the owner said that she could have a job there if she wanted it she also said not to tell me and my other friend who has also been coming to the shop for the whole year.I'm a little offended and now im not sure what to say to her to ask for a job ? Any tips ?
