How do homeless shelters work?

I am homeless, I work full time, no room at the shelters and its my last night at a hotel?

• I lost my home Oct. 2010, just got a good job, and was in a abusive relationship until one day I came home and he threw my stuff outside and changed the locks.He took my money and since then my money goes fast on food and shelter. I've lived in a city not my own for the last three years so I don't have family here. I was staying with a "friend" and now she isn't answering her phone although my things are at her house and im at this hotel. I have NO money and im very hungry. I work full time, do not own a car, and I struggle to make it to work everyday. I fear that I will have to live outside starting tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
