How to be a resident of Washington state while attending University of Washington?
-
First of all, thank you for coming and help me out. I am currently a Kentucky resident and I will go to a public university at KY for the first two year. I always dream about go to the western cost of United States. After first two year of college, I will transfer to the UW for sure. I know it's very expensive for an out state student, and I don't think I can afford it. So, can I be the resident of WA after my first year in WA? If so, please tell me how, and if not, also tell me how to be their resident. Thanks a lot!

Answer:
You can be a resident. Will you be living on campus or off? If you are off campus and have a job, you can go down and get a state drivers license and change your address to Washington. You will have to pay state taxes there and file, but you can claim residency.
