What banks in Washington State allow 16 year olds to have debit cards for their bank account?
-
I have Washington Mutual right now. But they won't let me have a debit card unless I'm 17 and have a job. help?

Answer:
The regulations are set by the credit card company, not the bank. For example, if you want a debit card with a Visa logo, then Visa requires that you are at least 18. This is to protect themselves because you have to be 18 to enter into a legally binding contract. I'm actually a little surprised that they said you could get one when you were 17. I know that you can get an ATM card when you're 16, but its not the same as a debit card.

i think Bank of America does. I think I remember classmates in High School having debit cards. However I remember some of them complaining about weird unauthorized charges.
