Information for a resume?

Resume and Cover Letters? Too much information! Help?

  • Hello, There are so many different ideas on what makes a good resume, or a good cover letter. I was always taught that both needed to be plain, simple, professional and to the point. But now that I've been applying for jobs I'm finding all this information saying to be a loud and different as possible. I understand wanting to stand out, but resumes with graphics on them? Funky cover letters? Is this what employers are looking for now? Thank you!

  • Answer:

Still keep your resume plain, simple, professional and to the point. But to make it different you should get a neat cover folder to put your resume in, with a unique picture on the front of your cover folder representing your business. To make your resume different.

The graphics on a resume won't get you hired, unless your applying for a job in design or arts..lol; What you put on your resume and how well you put it together will do a lot more. If your possible employer sees that your experience and background match what is needed for the position, you are more likely to get hired. In our economic situation it is true that you need to stand out among the competition, but flashiness alone won't land you a job.
