How is the job market in San Francisco (Bay Area) right now?

The economy overall is pretty bad, but there are definitely ways to find jobs in the bay area. I'd recommend pulling together a list of the companies you are targeting. I'd then begin reaching out to them to find out how they are doing and if they are hiring. Health care is an industry that seems to still run strong even in a bad economy, so you might have some luck finding a job if you work really hard at finding out more specific information. I'd start on their web site, but seeing the types and number of jobs they have posted. I'd then dig through your contacts on LinkedIn (or set up an account on LinkedIn) and try to connect with people working at those companies. I wouldn't give up hope just because the overall market is down. You might be pleasantly surprised by the stability of those companies if you do a little digging. Good luck!
