Looking for Chow Chow puppies?

• I am looking for some chow chow breeders in the bay area. I am looking ideally for someone that is not breeding for showing but for companion pets. That or a breeder that has some puppies that they would sell for companion pets, and would agree to them being spayed/neutered. I'd ideally like to find something under three hour drive of Mt. View CA, 94040 so I can go visit the puppy and the facility first. I am looking for a companion Chow Chow not a show chow, and yes I have owned chow chows before and know I am in for a strong willed dog. PLEASE do not say pet finder or rescues. I have looked on pet finder and there are no young chow chows within 100 miles of me. The ones listed closer look nothing like chow chows. Most of the rescues in the Bay area focus on chiwawas and pit bulls which are undesirable to me. And any chows I find are mixes that show almost no Chow in their looks. This may seem shallow but the puppy must look like a chow chow. I hate retrievers and labs and have a strong distrust and fear of them. Yet I have had chow chows all thru my childhood and have the confidence in the breed to be able to handle and train them. It may seem weird to be so afraid of labs and retrievers and to trust chow chows more but that is how I am so the chow look is very important to me. Thou I said I want a puppy the looks like a chow chow I am not going for strict breed standers. I don't mind a floppy ear or spots on the tongue that would disqualify a chow from showing. Just that they are healthy. If anyone knows some Chow Chow breeders in the Bay Area, or even someone who has chow pair that got pregnant and is sending the puppies to good homes. I would really appreciate some recommendations and contact information. Thank you so much! P.S. I am set on buying a puppy and have tried the adoption route and not found the right dog for me. Please respect my choice to find a pure Chow Chow and do not leave comment unless you know a breeder please. I have also checked the AKC website and the breed website they list there and they do not list a breeder closer then Vas Vegas or one that is still breeding. And Las Vegas which is over 400 miles away is to far for me to travel. I have tired calling and looking for breeder clubs and have had no luck. Thank you again for your time!

  Have you attended any local dog shows? You may find a breeder there that may not be local, but can refer you to one who is. That way you may avoid a back yard breeder who does not care about health and soundness of dogs he breeds.
