How to get a work permit?

  • im 16 and im applying at marshalls as a merchandise associate and the application form asked if i could furnish a work permit, were do i get one. also it said that the minimum age must be 16 so i got the age down.

    Actually, if you are under the age of sixteen you must submit a photo copy of a work permit with each and every application for work . Once you reach sixteen,under federal law you don't need that. Keep in mind that since you are still under age and in school,you can only workk four hours a day. Go to the nearest office of Workforce Solutions- Alamo (Texas Workforce) and ask for an Age of Consent form. Have one of your parents fill it out and sign it. Then send it to the address at the top of the form in Austin. You should recieve your permit within two -three weeks. DO NOT do something bright like fill out the form and forge your parents signature. Your parents will face a state charge of falsifying a state document.

the legal working age in most states is 16 anyways? why would you need a permit? when i was 14 i got mine at my school counselors office. all i had to do was ask for one. but most places won't hire you if you require a work permit.
