What job can a 14 year old get in Pennsylvania?

  • I really need a job because I hang out with a bunch of friends who get allowances but I don't get a allowance. In order to get useful things that are generally needed in Middle School (like a cell phone) I need a good job in the summer. I don't turn 14 until August and I desperately need a phone to get in touch with my parents. I also want a ipod but that is not mandatory. please help me.

    I'd suggest writing up the sort of jobs you think you could do, and explain you don't get an allowance and have to earn your own money. Jobs like cleaning, car-washing, dog-walking, snow-clearing and yard-work are some good ideas. Then put it through your neighbours letterboxes. You could also put up a note on some free advertising sites -- one that is probably pretty good is www.gohuman.com because you can put your zip code and how far you're willing to travel. Good luck!

You can do babysitting. There is still plenty of snow to shovel, with more coming down this minute. You can do yard work and cleaning for neighbors or people you know. If you get the word out and do a good job, you just might surprise yourself.

I'd try to get a baby sitting job, at 14 you can't really work in too many places legally.(you can't even work at McDonald's) So babysitting and mowing someone's lawn is how I made my money when I was your age. Maybe you could try putting an add in the newspaper. Often times elderly people will try to find kids to clean their houses and organize their books and stuff. Good luck!
