Salary question on a job application?

"What salary do you desire?" application question?

  • Ok, I am filling out a job application.... And I am at this question asking "What salary do you desire"... And it gives like 3 options... The first one is like 5.99-9.50 dollars an hour; though 5.99 is like under minimal wage in pennsylvania... the other is like 7.51-9.50.... and the last is 9.51 or more..... So would they think I ask too much if I pick the middle one or is it safe to?... What would be the best thing to pick? And if it means anything, I had a job before for like around 2 years, if that counts as experience or anything

  • Answer:

Pick an amount that you think you are worth for the work being done. Justify why you think you should be paid that much. I really hate those questions even though it's been decades since I changed companies. I always want to answer "How much you got?"

I would probably choose the middle one just to be safe but I would also write negotiable that way you can explain or talk about it with your future employer.

It's always good to tell your potential employer how much you got at your last job, so they have an idea of what you might be expecting
