I have a new york massage license and plan to move to florida ,do I need to be licensed there too?

  • I graduated from the Swedish Institute in nyc in 1988 .I have worked successfully there for many years. When I move to Florida I was hoping my NY license would be ok to use.I really don't want to have to take any tests to be able to work.

I am sure you will need a Florida license. I would contact them to see for sure and if you will need additional classes to meet Florida's license requirements. Case in point, I had a Real Estate license in California and wanted to move to Nevada. I had to take 2 additional classes to meet Nevada's license requirements.

Yes, you have to be licensed in Florida, too...but contact your state professional organization for information on how to go about getting a reciprocal license based on the existence of your New York state license. You may not have to take any sort of exam or test.
