Whats the difference between the NY State security guard license and the 8 hour cert course?

• Also where can you take the course in the city or bronx or security guard license and for about how much. I know the 8 hour goes for about 40 bucks? Can anyone help me out

  faq here http://www.dos.state.ny.us/lcns/guardfaq.html 8 hour cert course only guarantees you a license. if you want to be armed, you have to take a 47 hour firearms course along with it. btw, i was on riding a bus several years ago, and was listening to two security guards having a conversation. one said if you want the big money, you have to complete your pistol license, and once you do that, go directly to the United nations and apply for a security guard position.
