Where can I find used clothes for free?

Where in the NYC area would I be able to find a store that buys gently worn/used clothes?

  • I have searched and all I found were stores that specialize in vintage clothing which I do not own. I have lots of clothes that I don't wear anymore and some that I have never worn. The clothes I want to get rid of are geared towards high school aged girls. I would donate them but the last time I did, I felt so unwelcome from the people who worked at the establishment so I don't want to go down that route.

  • Answer:

Goodwill. You get paid in the 'good' feeling you get from giving your clothes to a charitable organization and you can take a tax write off!

I agree with the first answerer. You can try Goodwill Thrift shops. There are many through-out the city or you can try selling them on eBay or Amazon.com. With the economy the way it is, people are trying to save some $ in every way they can. You may get lucky and sell some. :)
