How hard is it to get into NYU?

I am in 9th grade, and I am thinking about going to the Tisch school of the arts at NYU (new york university), but how strict are they?

admission is 50/50 academic and audition/portfolio. so keep you grades up, get involved with stuff relating to what you want to do (for ex if you want to go there for acting you should have a lot of plays and drama clubs on your resume) and you should be fine. their academic scores are not as high as the rest of the schools but they are very talented which is what got them in
