Does NYC cabs take credit or debit cards?

    At present...there are only a few hundred enhanced cabs operating for hire on the streets, which take both cash and credit/debit cards payments. However, the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) hehe :-) has mandated that new equipment be installed in all yellow cabs by the end of January 2008, which will accept both cash and credit/debit cards for all fares. The equipment will be installed in the rear of the cab which will provide a high level of security...as passengers will swipe their own card and be in control during the transaction.
