How much can bartenders in Chicago and New York make?

I'm a 25 year old cute blond girl. I'm thinking of giving up my Corporate job while I attend grad school. I'm wondering what types of places are the most lucrative to work in - i.e. neighborhood bars or clubs? Also, realistically, what could I make at top bars/clubs in both Chicago and New York?
Answer:

Just like sassy says, plus 300-400 in tips, if your real good. But if your starting out, you might be a bar back and have to work different bars at a time. Plus most bars will want a resume and a pic. More attractive the worker, the more attractive the customers....and business.

Years ago i was in the bar biz in NYC. It might seem hard to believe but there are clubs in NYC where you pay to buy your spot behind the bar so as to get the tips which more than make up for it.
