  It makes a big difference whether or not you have withdrawn from school. I would never recommend that you do withdraw from school - even if you are emancipated and living on your own, you can still get assistance from the government so that you don't have to work full-time, and you can finish high school. I urge you to stay in school and get your diploma!! There are not many restrictions on 16 year olds working in NY. You can work in all but the most dangerous of jobs, and up to 10 p.m. at night when there is school the next day, and all weekend. That said, fast food places are the still the best bet for someone your age - just go from place to place and ask if they are seeking workers, is the best way!! Working for a friend or a relative is also an option: make it known among all you know, that you need work, and do what is called "networking" - tell your friends and relatives what you are able to do: your skills and strong points, and what hours you are available. Very often it's WHO you know that helps you get a job the most, instead of WHAT you know!! But, when you do get a job, go at it with all you are worth, and constantly try to improve upon your performance: a reputation for hard and intelligent work, can be you most important asset.
