What does a retail sales merchandiser do?

How many calls do u think a merchandiser should do in 6 hours?

• hi i work for a free adds paper as a merchandiser, my role is to call on various outlets to place point of sales and check if all is ok, i work 3 days a weeks 6 hours a day. i have just been informed that i need to call on 42 shops per day, is this viable!! what do you think is the right amount i should call on. i personally think 20

  I agree that this does seem a very tight schedule. 42 shops in 6 hours means 7 shops an hour, spending less than 9 minutes in each and that does not allow for any travelling time. You have not mentioned over what sort of area your outlets are spread, but it is highly unlikely that they are all within walking distance. Is there anyone else doing this job in a different area that you can compare notes with? If not, I would calculate the average time that you spend in each shop and the average time it takes to travel between shops and calculate the number you can do in a day and then talk to your boss. Make your estimate realistic because once you have given it, that is the number you will be expected to do. Hope this helps
