Volunteer work on Long Island?

I want to do volunteer work in Bulls Head, Staten Island, NY, 10314. Where do I go, and what do I need to do?

• I want to help my community. I live in Staten Island, NY, in the Bulls Head area, and my zip code is 10314. I want to do volunteer work to help the less fortunate (disabled, elderly, hungry, homeless, anything). But, I don't know my neighborhood good enough to know where all the soup kitchens, elderly homes, and mental institutes are. Where can I go that will let a 13 year old, such as myself, volunteer and help the less fortunate? Also, what organizations involved with saving the environment will let me join? I understand that because of my age, I can't help everywhere (which sucks, because don't they need all the help they can get?) but there has to be somewhere I CAN help. I appreciate any and all answers, unless they are negative.

  try the city's website, www.nyc.org and go into volunteers like you said i dont know about your age but try anyway I applaud you for trying so hard at your age keep it up good luck
